About the Role and Team
The Chief Executive will be accountable to the Board for ensuring that the Company acts as the strategic focus for the economic and physical regeneration of the area with overall responsibility for the management of the company.
You will be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans for renewal. To do this, you will need a clear operational style, strong management skills and the ability to lead a small professional team. As the role is predominantly about securing demonstrable outcomes, you will also require excellent programme management and delivery skills.
You will need to bring your influence to bear on a wide range of partners and organisations whilst being sensitive to the broader issues of partnership working. It goes without saying that you will therefore be a natural diplomat and partnership builder, someone with a collaborative style who is able to generate support for your vision and plans.
You’ll also need to be comfortable acting as an ambassador for Swindon and the Company, with top class communications skills and credibility to operate effectively at the highest levels as well as the ability to work with the community.
Whether you come from the public or private sector, you must have a good understanding of the role that both play in the field of sustainable investment and regeneration, and be able to build symbiotic relationships between them. You will have experience of developing private/public partnerships with a real understanding of how to make them succeed.
Just as important will be strong marketing and public relations skills and an in-depth understanding of urban regeneration. With an enviable record of achievement, you’ll recognise the need to ensure rapid success to secure outside confidence from the outset.
Above all, you will have the skills, experience and determination to turn our vision for Swindon into a reality.
As Chief Executive, you will lead a small team of professionals who are delivering projects for Swindon. Covering the disciplines of economic development, regeneration, property development, cultural development and place marketing, this team has many years experience of “making things happen” on the ground.
The Company will source experts in fields such as architecture, public art, economic modelling, community development, transport planning, project management, landscape architecture, planning and graphic design as required to ensure the highest quality of outcomes and to ensure successful outcomes.
