
Job Description
The Chief Executive provides executive leadership and direction and is accountable to the Board. Stakeholders are the Housing and Community Agency (HCA), South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and Swindon Borough Council (SBC). SBC is responsible for providing investor leadership and co-ordinating and reconciling the views of investors. An effective working relationship with SBC will be important to the success of the Company.
Primary Job Function
- To drive progress towards delivery of the town centre regeneration and broader economic development across the Borough.
- To provide strategic leadership for The New Company and ensure that the Company operates in accordance with the Business Plan agreed with the investors and the Board.
- To deliver on the aims and objectives of Swindon’s economic development and regeneration strategy.
- To act as an ambassador for the Company and the town, influencing key decision makers, directly engaging with communities and building effective relationships with key stakeholders to shape Swindon’s economy and environment.
- To co-ordinate the regeneration through strategic land assembly in conjunction with its lead partners, unlocking key development and investment opportunities and facilitating public and private sector development partnerships, in order to support sustainable economic growth.
Principal Responsibilities
- To lead the Company’s staff in all aspects of the Company’s business.
- To set the strategic direction of the Company with the Board in the light of the objectives set out by SBC and the other investors.
- To deliver the Company’s business plan.
- To report regularly to the Board on progress against delivery plans including the provision of clear, timely and accurate management information and advice to the Board to enable proper consideration of progress against plans.
- To work closely with SBC and co-investors, and maintain effective working relationships.
- To maintain high quality systems of internal controls and corporate governance on all aspects of business assurance including financial controls.
- To ensure that The New Company delivers on all statutory requirements.
- Any other duties as required by the Chairman or Board.
